About Me
I spent two decades building companies (I am on my fifth startup!) and advising Fortune 500 companies in healthcare, biotech, and technology.
I have a master’s degree in Journalism from Northeastern University and an English major with an exercise science minor from UMass Amherst. I am a Certified Nutrition Coach, a former Step Aerobics instructor (remember that!) and personal trainer.
But I consider my real credentials the wisdom I gained after almost dying from misdiagnosed fibroids, and from the dismissal midlife women face every day.
It redefined everything I understood about what it means to thrive, and it starts with living in alignment.

Sometimes a Rebuild Makes Everything Possible
After being gaslit for seven years, and told my weight gain was normal for my age, I had an emergency Myomectomy for a 16-centimeter fibroid (watermelon size!), which had detached and was causing me to hemorrhage. I was handed paperwork for a hysterectomy, which I refused, and ended up with a second surgery four months later for the non-life-threatening family of fibroids that remained.
Post-surgery, I rebuilt my health and reversed my biological age, and the age of every organ, by up to fifteen years. That journey became Rêve Health, a precision health company that blended advanced labs with ancient wisdom.
I am now the founder of Lumine, a daily methodology which I built to help myself, and others, reclaim each day by aligning with the seasons and cycles of nature.

How it all started
Moved to San Francisco
After graduate school for Journalism I decided I didn’t want to be a journalist (haha!). I moved to SF in the middle of the dot.com boom and started working at US/Web CKS, which became Razorfish. I worked on the Apple, Visa, Sega, Barbie, and CNN accounts leading brand, content, and UX strategy.
StubHub
Trial by fire at a rapidly growing funded startup, later bought by eBay. I led the editorial team, SEO/SEM, email marketing, merchandising, and branding.
Johnson & Johnson
I helped create an eldercare community as the Editor-in-Chief and Executive Producer. We launched in D.C. with the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving.
InnerRewards
Launched a wellness retreat ecommerce marketplace (like an upscale Orbitz) that was Series A funded. We were acquired just 18 months later.
Marketing Consultancy
I founded Kusadama, now Julie Elaine Brown Consulting, a marketing and digital strategy consultancy helping Fortune 500s and health, wellness, biotech, and pharmaceutical clients such as Apple Health, Pfizer, Zoetis, Johnson & Johnson, Tonix Pharma, Memorial Hermann, Goldman Sachs, MN8, Reliant, NRG Energy, HP, Visa, Intel, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, VMWare. I still run this company and am active on several engagements, while my team handles day-to-day and often acts as entrepreneurs-in-residence.
Rêve Health
I was the Founder C.E.O. of an advanced biomarker telehealth company that combines functional medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine to get to the root cause of health and wellness.

Freedom Was Always the Point
I have been a founder and entrepreneur for the past 20 years. I was inspired by my grandfather who ran a small store in rural Massachusetts.
In high school and beyond I worked for him, and was always impressed by the amount of dedication and diligence running a business entails, yet also how much freedom you can have over your day, your environment, and even your customers.
That store in Massachusetts is where I first understood that building something of your own is not just a career choice. It is a way of moving through the world.
