Julie’s Story

About Julie Elaine Brown, M.A.

Entrepreneur, Wellness Advocate, Woman over 50!

I run a marketing and strategy consultancy that serves Fortune 500 clients such as Apple and IBM.

I am also writing a non-fiction book, and creating programs for women in midlife. Whether you are a brand, a solo-preneur, or a woman in midlife, we thrive when we understand our purpose! My special sauce is helping others understand their purpose, and set them on a path to fulfill it.

I started my career as a Journalist in Boston, and transitioned to the entrepreneur world after moving to San Francisco. I’ve worked for some of the largest startups in the world, one of which was sold to eBay. I was recruited to be an entrepreneur-in-residence for Johnson & Johnson–a cool project to help caregivers get the support they require.

I then started an ecommerce startup backed by some of the top angels in silicon valley. We helped connect women with wellness retreats (yoga in Napa was one of my favorites). I sold the company in 2013.

Things shifted for me after nearly a decade of what I’ll call perimenopause drama, and adventures in advocating for myself with doctors who didn’t know how to help me. That’s when I realized I had to take matters into my own hands.

I researched every possibility to alleviate my symptoms and was able to resolve my issues. I have never felt better!

Now, my passion in life is to help other women advocate for their health during perimenopause, and take back control of their bodies and minds with what I call “lifestyle as medicine.”

My Journey So Far

I wanted to be a writer when I was a kid…and life got in the way. I moved to San Francisco in 1998 and got caught up in the dot.com boom. It was exciting and I was good at it. I was known as a disruptor–and I immersed myself into the startup world. No matter where I worked, I was able to get to the real “story” behind a brand, or a person. I was always a writer at heart.

Vegetarian, Hiker, Holistic Wellness Partaker

I’ve been a step aerobics instructor and fitness volunteer, been a vegetarian since age 17, and have always been active as a hiker, runner, and gym-goer.

I believe that when we take care of our minds and bodies, we can age gracefully–naturally. I do not use Botox or fillers (and have no judgment for those who do!) because I think wrinkles are a sign of an interesting life.

BUT…that doesn’t mean I want to look old! I stay hydrated; eat an organic, Vegetarian, Mediterranean diet; get out in nature as much as possible; and use active stress-reduction programs (that I created for myself) to look and feel my best. I aim for 8 hours of sleep a night.

Entrepreneur

I run a digital and marketing strategy consultancy, headquarted in San Francisco. I started that after I founded and ran an Ecommerce marketplace for holistic wellness providers. We were Series-A funded, and it was quite the startup whirlwind!
